November is Eye Donation Month! Did you know that there are more than 12 million people worldwide suffering from blindness or visual impairment that could be reversed with a corneal transplant?
LIJ Valley Stream Hospital joined The Lions Eye Bank for Long Island in a week long celebration to help spread awareness about the impact of eye, organ and tissue donation. The community and hospital staff were able to visit one of our tables throughout the week to learn about donation.
They heard personal stories and donor family testimonies and signed up to be a donor. They were able to show us what they learned at the end of the week for a chance to win some prizes and goodies.
