Visit by the International Director 2000-2002
of the
International Association of Lions Clubs
The Lions Eye Bank for Long Island had a very special visitor on February 9, 2000. International Director, Lion Manfred Westhoff, his wife Marina and daughter Mika from Bavaria, Germany. Guests of 20 K-1 District Governor, Gary Villanueva.
Dr. Westhoff and Mrs. Westhoff had spent a part of their day visiting our Eye Bank and meeting with members of our Board of Directors as well as several of our District Governors and Past District Governors. The Eye Bank staff as well as several Eye Bank Board members spent the time showing Dr. and Mrs.Westhoff our wonderful facilities and spoke about the history of the Eye Bank. Chairman, Joseph E. Sikorski presented them with Eye Bank gifts and Past Chairman - Elliott Krakauer made them both honorary corneal transporters for the day. (Unfortunately there we no transporter trips to the airport that day.)<G> A wonderful time was had by all.
We would like to thank Dr. Westhoff and Mrs. Westhoff for taking the time to visit our Eye Bank and we hope their experience was a pleasurable one.
