     Quality Assurance Coordinator

Mary N. Perry, R.N., B.S.N., C.W.C.

Quality Assurance Coordinator

Mary received her B.S.N. from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus.  After graduation, she worked as a staff nurse on medical units at Nassau County Medical Center, Georgetown University Medical, Massachusetts General and Beth Israel Hospitals (Boston).  Mary then took a hiatus from nursing to raise four children.  During this time, she volunteered for numerous groups and committees.  In the early years, Mary wrote articles for Hadassah's American Affairs column for the local chapter newsletter and later became corresponding secretary.  Mary was active at Portledge School on many levels, most notably serving as Co-Chair of the Annual Auction, President of the Parents' Council and as a member of the Board of Trustees, chairing the Nominating Committee.

Mary began working as a In-Service Coordinator for the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island in 1994.  Her duties were to provide lectures and video presentations to the nursing staffs of the various member hospitals in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.  These programs were designed to increase the awareness of the need for donor tissue.  Mary is presently the Nursing Liaison for the Lions Eye Bank, responsible for the programs presented at quarterly Nurses' Council Meetings.

Mary received a certification from the National Kidney Foundation as a Certified Workshop Coordinator (C.W.C) in 1997.  In 1998, Mary received certification in the New York State Designated Requestor Program for Tissue Donation.  Mary has been a member of ANET (Association of Nurses Endorsing Transplantation) since 1994, serving as secretary in 1998, President-Elect in 1999 and is currently President. Mary is the co-founder and currently President of the Long Island Chapter of ANET.
