25th Anniversary Information

The Lions Eye Bank for Long Island is honored and privileged to have been able to work with such wonderful people for the last 25 years.  From our donor families to our recipients, from our dedicated staff to our Lions volunteers, and from our board members and medical leadership to everyone else who makes it all happen, it truly has been a pleasure.  To date, the Lions Eye Bank has provided the Gift of Sight to over 11,500 people in need of sight restoring corneal transplants.  As we embark upon our next 25 years, we hope that we can all collaborate to expand the reach of this great Eye Bank both in our communities and beyond.

25th Anniversary Gala Event Details

On November 19th, 2011 we celebrated the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island’s 25th Anniversary at a gala celebration at Leonard’s of Great Neck.  Over 260 people attended not only to celebrate with us, but also to honor Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) for the support it has provided sight restoration projects around the world.  Accepting the award on behalf of LCIF, was Dr. Wing-Kun Tam, the President of Lions Clubs International.  What a privilege to have shared this special evening with Dr. Tam, who flew all the way from China just for the occasion.  A good time was had by all!

Thank you to everyone who helped plan the event and for all who helped to support it - whether by attending, donating raffle prizes, taking out ads in the evening’s event journal, or by donating money to the Long Island Lions Eye Foundation.

Here are just a few pictures from the evening.  To view a complete album click on the link below to be directed to the Lions Eye Bank’s facebook page.  And while you are there, don’t forget to become a fan of our page so you can keep tabs on us each week!
