        VISIONS 2000 PROJECT   

 

Mission Statement: To enhance the visibility of the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island within our communities and to promote awareness about the need for corneal donations as well as the many services that we offer our neighbors.  We encourage all of our Lions Clubs within the 20K-1, 20K-2, and 20S Districts to take ownership and support for their  Eye Bank through education and financial support.

 

LIONS EYE BANK FOR LONG ISLAND

December 2001 - VISIONS 2000

● The Eye Bank Association of America selected the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island

to present the 2001 Gift of Sight Award to Registered Nurse, Irene Vigotty of Franklin

Hospital Medical Center, Valley Stream. Ms. Vigotty received her award for outstanding

service to the Eye Bank community. The award was presented to her by Lions Eye Bank,

Executive Director, Steve Knapik, RN November 10, 2001 in New Orleans, La.

 

● Our Eye Bank Technical Supervisor and Board member, Kenneth Manger received the

Prestigious "Banko Award" from the Sons of Italy, New York Chapter. This award was

presented to Ken on November 11, 2001 for his outstanding service to sight restoration!

Congratulations Ken!

● Steve Knapik (2nd from left) and eva efron (r) gave a well-received eye bank lecture to the

Valley Stream Hadassah organization on November 13, 2001. eva efron spoke on behalf of

her husband, eye and tissue donor, Lion Marty Efron, past Chairman of the Lions Eye

Bank.

● Sunday November 18, 2001 was the 15th Annual Lions Eye Bank Open

House at the Rust Auditorium, North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset.

transporters!
